Job Opportunity – Housing Carpenter

POSITION TITLE:              Housing Carpenter 

CLASSIFICATION:             Temporary Full Time 

TERM:                                 approximately 1 year (subject to funding)



The Housing Carpenter is responsible to perform high quality renovations to the houses of the Lower Kootenay Band community. The duties include, but are not limited to, the installation of new windows/doors, insulating, foundation repairs, and carpentry repairs.  The Housing Carpenter will also be responsible for performing general maintenance functions by carrying out routine maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs as well as operating and maintaining a variety of light and heavy powered equipment. This position requires the ability to work well with limited supervision.



This position reports to the Housing Coordinator.




  • Red Seal Carpenter with 5 years or more experience
  • Knowledge of the BC Building Code and other regulations and requirements applicable to work assignments
  • Be dependable, enthusiastic and possess good work habits
  • Have the ability to function as part of a diverse team and interface with the community.
  • Class 5 Drivers License (required)




  • Applicants must be competent in all areas of residential and commercial frame construction.
  • Duties will include roofing, siding, framing, drywall, concrete, installation of windows, doors and cabinets, insulation, drywall, painting, decks, stairs, flooring, and tear downs.
